Programming CrossFit Classes

Lets talk about programming at CrossFit Huntersville.

We get a lot of questions about how our programming works, so this week we’re giving you a peek behind the curtain. Our workouts aren’t random—they’re carefully structured to build strength, skills, and conditioning while keeping things fresh and fun.

🔑 The 6 Training Days

Each week, we cycle through six training themes:

1. Strength Day – alternating back squat or deadlift
2. Overhead Strength Day – cycling bench → strict press → push press → push/split jerk
3. Long Metcon Day – conditioning focus
4. Skill Day #1 – gymnastics emphasis
5. Heavy Olympic Lifting Daypower snatch or clean
6. Skill Day #2 – another chance to sharpen gymnastics

👉 Saturdays are always special: longer partner or team workouts to bring the community together. Because of this, our six-day rotation shifts forward each week, so you’ll never get stuck with the same lift every Monday.

🤸 Gymnastics Skill Rotation

Our skill days rotate through 10 key movements to keep things well-rounded:

  • Single-leg strength
  • Handstands / Handstand Push-Ups
  • Toes-to-Bar
  • Pull-Ups
  • Chin-Ups
  • Muscle-Ups
  • Ring Dips
  • Jump Rope / Double-Unders
  • Wall Walks / Handstand Walks
  • Odd Object / Rope Climb

Each week you’ll see two skills, and over time we work down the full list.

🔄 A Week vs. B Week

To keep balance and variety, we run alternating weeks:

  • A Weeks → Back Squat + Power Snatch
  • B Weeks → Deadlift + Clean

This ensures you’re building strength across the board and not just hammering the same lifts.

📈 Strength Progressions

  • Cycles last 8–12 weeks with built-in deloads.
  • We don’t retest every week—true progress takes time.
  • Each lift runs through 3 different progressions so training stays fresh.

⏱️ Workout Time Domains

Outside of our big Saturday workouts, most training pieces land in the 8–12 minute range—the CrossFit sweet spot. You’ll also see the occasional short sprint or longer grind closer to 20 minutes.

Why This Matters

Our programming gives you:

  • Balanced exposure to strength, skill, and conditioning
  • Variety without randomness
  • Enough time to build real progress
  • A fun, challenging community environment every week

So when you see the workouts, you’ll know exactly how they fit into the bigger picture!

💪 See you in the gym,
