ATHLETES OF THE MONTH
1) What brought you to Crossfit Huntersville?
After having Shivar, starting school, and moving I was in the worst shape of my life. I needed an outlet and I needed to get back in shape. I knew if I joined a regular, key card gym then I would always make excuses to not go. I needed the community and encouragement that Crossfit offers. Alex and my brother have done it for awhile too and only had amazing things to say about it..
2) What was your first impression? Has it changed?
At first I was intimidated because I felt so out of shape and everyone else seemed so in shape! I am competitive so I didn't like being at the bottom of the leaderboard all the time!! Everyone was so nice and welcoming that the feeling didn't last long. Now I get excited when I come! There also were A LOT of movements I used to hate but now love when I see them in the workout.
3) What are you most proud of?
My pull ups! I never in my life thought I would be able to do even one strict pull up and I can do 3!!
4) What are your next goals?
To keep improving on my handstand push ups and continue focusing on my toes to bar and pull ups as I continue growing in this pregnancy. I'm hoping to be doing well enough next fall to do a beginners competition!
Hopefully a muscle up before 2018 too!
5) Favorite/least favorite movement?
I love box jumps and any movements that include box jumps in them and I like pull ups too.
I hate any sort of push up except handstand push ups. I'm not very fast with any version though
6) How has being a member of Crossfit Huntersville impacted you the most? Either in or out of the gym.
I feel so much better about myself in general. I was an athlete all my life so once I got to a point where I wasn't involved in sports anymore I felt a void. This has definitely helped fill that and has put me in the best shape of my life
7) What do you look forward to the most when you walk through the doors at Crossfit Huntersville?
Seeing who will be in class that day. I go to open gym a lot lately so it's fun seeing who shows up during that time. I also get excited seeing how I measure up with each workout.
